MicroSkills is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Lab Attendant . This is a full-time position assisting students at one of the leading San Diego technical education institutions.  We offer both day and night courses in Information Technology and pride ourselves in providing a quality hands-on education, preparing students for industry certifications, and maintaining a state-of-the-art facility. Our Technical Lab Attendants play a critical role in achieving these goals.

Technical Lab Attendant Description:

The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who has some IT/computer/network related experience and is certified as an MCSE on Windows 2003.  The main responsibility of the Technical Lab Attendant is to assist students in developing their technical skills.  This is accomplished by helping students troubleshoot technical labs, provide one-on-one mentoring, develop/build technical hands-on labs for students, and provide other support functions.  Technical Lab Attendants work closely with the IT department and Certified Instructors to get the aforementioned tasks accomplished.  Think of this as a “live”, in person, help desk with the opportunity to learn and grow not only students' skills, but your own.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of computer hardware, networking, protocols, and operating systems
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Technical Certifications from vendors such as Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, CIW, and/or any Linux Certifications
  • Excellent “soft skills”
  • Ability to demonstrate technical zeal and convey difficult concepts in an easily understandable manner
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills
  • Hands-on, real world experience in technologies taught
  • Ability to learn technical material quickly
  • Genuine interest in helping others understand what they are learning
  • Ability to work on your own or in a team environment
  • BPPVE Certificate of Authorization for Service a plus
